what we stand for.

Harbor Jiu Jitsu was founded with a simple but powerful vision: to build a place where high-level martial arts training and genuine community could exist side by side. What began as a passion project grew out of a desire to make martial arts training accessible to everyday people—parents, professionals, students, first responders—anyone looking to better themselves through disciplined training in a respectful, ego-free environment.

From day one, Harbor Jiu Jitsu has focused on more than just techniques and belts. The academy emphasizes real-world self-defense, physical and mental resilience, and personal growth, while fostering a culture where students support one another on and off the mats. Today, Harbor Jiu Jitsu looks to continue expanding its impact by developing well-rounded athletes, confident kids, and strong adults—while remaining a positive, lasting presence in the local community.

hear from our community

  • Harbor Jiu-Jitsu is truly outstanding! The facility is always clean, creating a comfortable and safe environment for the kids. One of the best things about this school is how small kids and big kids train together. The older students set a great example, leading with kindness and discipline. When a younger student struggles with a technique, the bigger kids step in to help, fostering a strong sense of teamwork. Parents have a nice seating area to watch their kids progress, which is great. The instructors strike the perfect balance—gentle yet firm—ensuring that kids stay focused while still having fun. The training helps them develop discipline, focus, and valuable martial arts skills. The environment is welcoming, and you can tell it’s a great place to learn because long-time students are always willing to help and guide newcomers. Coach Albruce is hands-on, making sure each student gets the attention they need to improve. His dedication and teaching style truly make this school a special place. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a positive and supportive jiu jitsu school!

  • I've known the Head instructor Albruce for many years. He's got a great heart and will go out of his way for the people he loves. He's also very talented in the sport and does what it takes to maintain cutting edge technique for both himself and his students. You couldn't be in better hands than at Harbor jiu jitsu.

  • Walking into a new gym where you don't know anyone can be anxiety-riddling. And if you're anything like me and you're interested in trying jiu-jitsu but don't have much martial arts experience, you're in good hands here at Harbor. It's a super-friendly environment. Albruce is a great instructor and explains everything in detail. Everyone here is willing to help you understand the techniques, so you don't need to feel embarassed if you don't understand something the first time. It happens to everyone. And we train with technique and safety first in mind, that way you can make it to work the next day and keep training consistently.
